First Doctor's Appointment

Jason and I had our first doctor's appointment on May 8th. At my request, we were very hush, hush about being pregnant until after we met with the doctor for the first time. We are going to Dr. Heather Walsh out at Presbyterian. I liked her right away. She's very laid back, easy going and was easy to talk to. They ran tons of test and asked lots of questions. The most exciting part of the day was our sonogram. Jason and I were completely taken a back by this technology. The lady doing the sonogram could obviously tell that we had never been in this situation before and she "wanted to do something fun for us," so she did a 3D sonogram on the "dot." If you use your imagination you can see the formation of an arm and of a leg!
The sonogram showed me being at 7 weeks at that point and time. The due date was offically set at January 2, 2011. We heard the heartbeat at 150 beats and were told that was strong and good. We of course, do not know any differently so we took her word for it!

My mom sent me this scripture and it made me smile right away. I can still hear my mom from when I was little tell me that I am "Fearfully and wonderfully made." For those of you that know my mom, doesn't that just sound like sweet, sweet Nancy?

Psalm 139: 13-18
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full and well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days you ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

Here we GO!

By now, most people know that that we are now expecting our first child at the end of December. This was sooner than we ever thought that this new incredible journey would be. As always, God has better timing than us, so we are trusting in Him on this one. Jason turned 30 in December and then I followed with the big birthday bash in February. At that time we said 6 more months and then here it is April and I am about 5 weeks pregnant or so talking baby names. To most people we know, this news has been and will be shocking. Never the less, it's fun and exciting.
I found out on Friday, April 23rd. I surprised Jason after work.

We told his parents on Thursday, April 29th. This will be their first grandchild, so there were 'happy dances' happening in our living room. They are happy for us, of course, but we are pretty convinced that they are more excited for themselves!

We told my parents on Saturday May 8th and had a wonderful mother's day weekend together. This will be grand kid number six for ole Doug and Nancy. Needless to say, it's still fun and exciting.

We are thrilled that both sets of grandparents will be close. I am sure I will be begging for their help in oh, say about 8 to 9 months or so! And for rest of you -- we love you. Thank you for being excited with us, for all your well wishes, prayers, support and for loving our growing family!

"I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
-Philippians1:3-6
